How to translate a theme to your language
Our theme comes translation-ready with .pot files ready for translation. These files are located in the /languages folder of the main theme folder. To translate the theme into your language, follow the steps below :
Method #1: Using Loco Translate
The easiest way to translate your theme locally is by using the Loco Translate plugin. After you have installed and activated the plugin, navigate to WP Admin > Loco Translate and translate the theme following the plugin instructions.
In case you’re an experienced computer user, you may want to use Poedit to translate your theme (see below), which is more complex but faster.
Method #2: Using Poedit
Poedit is a common program which you can use to translate the theme. It’s available for free on POEdit .
- Launch POEdit and select File > New Catalog from POT file. Then select the .pot file in languages/ folder of your theme.
- Select all the original strings and type, in the field below each of them, your translation
- Once you translated all the strings, you must save the file, according to the language you used for your WordPress installation. If you are using the Italian, you must save the file as "it_IT.po", if you are using the german you must save the file as "de_DE" and so on... Here is a list of languages WordPress supports.
- The last step you must upload your language files into the language/ folder of your theme using FTP.
Tell WordPress which language file to use
Just navigate to WP Admin => Settings => Site Language then choose your language.
That's all.
